NFL hopeful Anthony Morales, 24, repeatedly kicked Yankees prospect Ty Hensley in the face, rendering him unconscious, breaking his jaw and knocking out his tooth, according to a document filed in Oklahoma County District Court Thursday.
Morales was charged with aggravated assault and battery, said the document, which was signed by Oklahoma County District Attorney Scott Rowland.
Morales starred at linebacker for Weber State. The Carolina Panthers signed him as an undrafted free agent in July, but cut him in August.
Hensley was taken to a nearby hospital after the Dec. 28 attack and needed several surgeries, but he was released and is expected to make a full recovery, according his agent, Rob Martin, of ICON Sports, and his lawyer, Jacob Disselhorst.
The Yankees selected Hensley in the first round (30th overall) of the 2012 draft. The righty pitcher threw just 12 innings that season, missed all of 2013 due to hip surgery, and pitched well in limited work in 2014.
